Q: What would be the cost of replacing the hood and bumper in a Hyundai Elantra?
Got involved in a car accident. Basically, everything in front of the radiator (not including the radiator) as well as the hood should be replaced. That includes the bumper, bumper reinforcement, radiator support, etc. Surprisingly, the lights are not broken. I would like to know how much the whole replacement may cost me. The car is a Hyundai Elantra, 2002, GLS. Thanks.

A: To replace the hood, front bumper assembly, grille, core support etc...is an easy $3000 if not more.

Q: How to do a burnout with an automatic Hyundai Elantra?
I own an automatic 2004 Hyundai Elantra GT. It is a FWD. I just wanted to know if it is even possible to make a burnout, if so how is the best way to do it. Thanks

A: the correct way to do a burnout in a fwd car is to fully engage the emergency brake or handbrake, put the gear selector in 1st or low. then just use the throttle to spin the tires all you want.

Q: I have a 2002 hyundai elantra and the check engine light when on yesterday. Is it safe for me to drive?
Yesterday my check engine light went on on my 2002 hyundai elantra. Yet, the car still drives fine and I don't see if anything is wrong with it. I checked the gas cap and it was secure. Is it safe for me to drive it around for a little bit around town before I take it to the mechanic?

A: If you're not experiencing any problems then it should be safe to drive but I would scan the light ASAP. You don't have to go to the mechanic to get a scan. If you have an Autozone near by they will check it for free. They will give you a print out of the code.

Q: Is a post-2000 model Hyundai Elantra a reliable used car?
I am toying around with the idea of getting an inexpensive used car to replace my wife's gawdawful 1993 Saturn. A friend of mine said that generally, the Hyundai Elantra is a good (read: reliable) car for the money. Is this true? Any other Hyundai models that are also reliable?

A: Most post-2000 model Hyundai's are fairly good cars. They are reliable, economical, cheap to operate, and most parts are fairly inexpensive. Any used vehicle is only good as to how it was maintained and taken car of. If properly maintained and not abused most used cars will be a good investment. Ask for any and all records, plus have the vehicle you are interested in inspected by a qualified mechanic prior to purchasing the car. The pre-purchase inspection should be somewhere around $50.00 to $150.00. My Mercedes/BMW mechanic only charges me $40.00. In 2004, Hyundai tied with Honda for initial brand quality in a survey/study from J.D. Power and Associates, for having 102 problems per 100 vehicles. This made Hyundai second in the industry, only behind Toyota, for initial vehicle quality. The company continued this tradition by placing third overall in J.D. Power's 2006 Initial Quality Survey, behind only Porsche and Lexus. Hyundai/Kia Automotive Group is the world’s fourth largest automaker (second in Asia) in terms of units manufactured and sold per year and one of the Big Asian Four (with Toyota, Honda and Nissan). In recent interviews with Toyota executives, they have expressed concerns about Hyundai-Kia and their market share. Hyundai-Kia is the only automobile manufacturer that Toyota fears - and that says something. Kia is also moving up sales rapidly, even quicker than Hyundai due to their improving quality and design (hired the head designer from Audi about two years ago). Hyundai-Kia is the fastest growing foreign brand in China and is the largest exporter of cars in India (Hyundai has plants in both countries). Hyundai-Kia was the only major automaker to sell more vehicles in 2009 than 2008. Take a look at the link below for actual comments from Hyundai owners and what they think about their vehicles.

Q: How do i know if i had ABS in my hyundai Elantra?
I bought a hyundai elantra car but i don't know if i had abs or not,,, as the dealer told me that i don't but its standard in my country that it comes with abs... my question is how to know?

A: Open the hood. As you look at the engine, on your left side (right behind the passenger headlight) you will see like a black box that has 6 metal lines going into it and a big connector with a yellow clip around. see this picture for location of the ABS module: http://hysis.hyundaicanada.com/viewer/dispimg.asp?path=/data/Passenger/HY/HMA/ENG/SHOP-Images/HY-XD13-IMAGES-ENG/ejkd100a.gif And this for design and look: http://hysis.hyundaicanada.com/viewer/dispimg.asp?path=/data/Passenger/HY/HMA/ENG/SHOP-Images/HY-XD13-IMAGES-ENG/ejke200a.gif Also, look in the engine compartment fuse box, turn the lid upside down to see fuse location diagram, locate the place for ABS fuse then, look ot that spot and see if you've got a fuse in place. If none of those are there, it means your car has no ABS system. Another way of checking is to brake hard and see if the wheels are locking on the pavement or not. Should they lock (screech), you have no ABS. Should you feel pulsations in your brake pedal, means you have ABS. I don't know where you're from but, another easy way to see is to look at your wheels. If the rim is metal, no ABS if the rim is alloy-yer ABS. This apply to Elantra model up to 06 production. Don't quote me exactly on this last sentence because I don't know where are you from and what year model you have.
