it's called the Verna elsewhere in the world and was debuted a few months ago at the Beijing Auto Show. fairly nice looking for a subcompact. however it doesn't strike me as "sporty"

Q: Looking into buying a new car, is this a good time? Tips and suggestions, please!?
I'm looking into buying an entry level car, with the 2011 models coming out soon is this a good time? If it's either now or six months from now, is it worth getting it sooner or can I expect similar prices?
I'm looking mostly at the Mazda3, Corolla, Civic, Hyundai Accent or Elantra.. I haven't narrowed it down yet if I want a coupe, seden or hatchback.. I really like the civic coupe but I also really like the elantra touring.
I plan on learning to drive stick, seems like that saves about 1000 bucks. What other advantages are there to driving stick, or disadvantages when compared to automatic?

Im not in a huge rush, I have a 1996 Cavalier but the way I see it every penny I put into it is a penny I could save by getting a new car sooner.
